That won't be very effective in or around your house. Pump action or pistol would be best.
Shotgun is the best weapon for home defence by far.
Pistol is best weapon for self-defence.
AR-15s would be best when there is a mostly peaceful protest coming towards your house to peacefully reclaim your TV because they are struggling to get by. (I had some fun at the range the other day with one, even a complete noob like me could hit center mass at 25m without too much effort)

That is not true. Carrying a pistol makes you a massive target. There are plenty of people in this country that will kill for a pistol that cannot be traced back to them. There is also a large amount of training involved in using a firearm and the 21 foot rule.
Almost as if people have solved this problem and invented concealed carry. Which means other people cannot see you are armed.

But you do you and trust your life to criminals.

Only works when you are at home.
My friend’s Staffie cornered an intruder in the garden shed when he was out. When the dog did not come and meet him, he went to see why. The intruder was standing on a stool

The Staffie is large and black. He is always very friendly to me

You going to draw a concealed weapon before your attacker gets on you? Good luck with that.
Yes, that is what self defence training is. You learn how to draw your weapon aim and fire very quickly under a variety of circumstances. When you train for something, you can react very quickly to it.

Just google self defence shooting on YouTube and you will find countless videos of someone pulling out a CCW and sending their attacker to the great pie shop in the sky.

They'll kill it with a pill within a few seconds.

It is generally recommended that dogs sleep inside at night for their safety and comfort. During the day, they can be outside and serve as a deterrent against spotters. German shepherds are highly trainable and can be taught not to accept food from strangers. Am sure other gurdian breeds too.

Keep telling yourself that.

Have you seen a trained German shepherd protect its owner?

My personal experience with German shepherds is that they are excellent protectors when trained. I grew up with them. Schutzhund training is better than any alarm out there.

Everyone can afford the time and care needed for a trained German Sheppard, and when the armed crowbar gang comes while everyone is at work/school the German Sheppard will send an SMS to its owner or whomever it was taught to SMS.

Look, any system has it's weaknesses and anyone putting all their faith into ONE system is a fool.

Never mind that, the grensvegters here will wake at the slightest noise out of place, and be instantly ready and fully alert, and never ever will they wake up with the criminal standing over them pointing a firearm at them. A gun is truly the only thing they need, no early warning systems or anything else required.

Agree, I have footage of a previous break in at my home, under 2 minutes to bypass everything, take the stuff and leave. Security company arrived 15 minutes later. After getting 2 dogs, no incidents in years.
So you had regular burglaries before the dogs?
