So my colleague and I were trying to determine the best time to take your car for a service. We concluded the following:

Monday? No because the mechanics are still Bhabhalaz
Tuesday? OK
Wednesday? OK
Thursday? No because the Mechanics have started their weekend celebration
Friday? No because all the mechanics are thinking about is the weekend

Tuesday is statistically proven to be the most productive day of the week, mostly due to the fact that Monday is generally quite unproductive and guilt sets in. I always try to take my car on a Tuesday or worst case Wednesday for that reason.

Can't say that this is anything that I've ever really thought about.

Car goes in for a service whenever it is due...

A service is a set list of work to be done on a car, so the car would go in on the morning and be finished by the afternoon.

When my car asks me to phone the dealer, I do so. If I have to take it in tomorrow, it's tomorrow then. :D

I noticed Thursday traffic is not as good as Tuesday or Wednesday. So their must be truth to it not being so productive as people leave work later.

Indeed... its a low-class job, akin to being a garbage collector.

true, until they decide to strike;

then it isnt so low class anymore;

those people actually have so much power in their hands and dont realize it;
us in white collar jobs are the ones that need to be scared of these guys;

You and your colleague should try to assess the efficacy of basing your analysis on conjecture.

The mistake you make is thinking there is a mechanic servicing your car.

There is a person with zero qualifications/certifications that the dealer has sent on a 1day training course on how to change oil and filters. Each time a new model comes out they are sent on a 1day course for the new model.

They have access to an electronic parts catalog with exploded diagrams and a step by step guide on how to perform certain part replacements on each model.

There are maybe 1 or 2 actual mechanics in the workshop who fix problems which are not just general servicing.

I was speaking to the service manager at a big GM branch 2 weeks ago about their 1.0T engine. He was telling me it's so smooth because of its dual mass flywheel. I then pointed out that it doesn't have a dual mass flywheel, it uses a balance shaft. He had to admit that they have had only basic training on their 1.0T engine, like changing belts and ancillaries but but knew nothing about the internals.
