Bad question, which console?

You can probably find a 30"/74cm Standard def flatsceen CRT for that, alternatively, if it's a 360 you're talking about, you could get a 19" widescreen monitor and the VGA cables.

It matters for the console output.

I believe Samsung and Sony currently sits on top of the telly chart at the moment, not that the others are bad.

The best thing to do is know the features you want and go and eye ball them in person.

R3000?

Get a 19" Widescreen LCD & VGA HD cable. Best way to get your X360 connected and enjoy 720p.

R7000

The Mecer 32" LCD capable of 1360x768 with VGA input. Nothing justifies an extra R7000 for a Sony Bravia screen. ;)

(unless you are rich that is. :p )

For console use, try and find one that at least shows a square box as a square box. Some of these TV's (including the expensive ones) have horrendous geometry...

I settled for a locally made 74cm Tedelex a while ago. Good geometry, good picture. Same innards as the Sansui's at HifiCorp - would get another in a flash...

thats just plain wrong. you will only get SDTV quality or if lucky EDTV @ 4:3 ratio.

a widescreen CRT will offer you the best EDTV resolution for the new range of consoles since its a proper 16:9 ration.

EDTV = 480p (848x480)
SDTV = 480i (640x480)

a proper LCD TV will have a minimum native resolution of 1360x768 which is HD compliant to 720p (1280x720). If you got via that route seek out a unit with at least both component & VGA RGB inputs.

dont be fooled by those pesky LCDs that offer 1024x768 or 1280x1024 as native resolutions since they are NOT 16:9 resolutions.
