The base VW Up! for R1652pm or R1964pm depending on your deposit. Yes it's over the dumb 72mnths period but that at least drops the monthly premium a notch & one can always pay in more.

Myself & many others feel it is the best car it its class (i10; Picanto; Spark etc). Just make sure space; limited 3-door layout; is not a major sticking point & the Up! is the way to go.

Don't dismiss the extra packages & service plan as well.

We were also looking at the UP, the safety of it beats all the cars in its class, feature wise, not so much. At least on the interior, it feels and looks professional and not like a cheap etios.

Not a huge Up! fan. 3 door layout and engine combo would easily rule it out for me.
Premium vehicle in that class, no doubt, and that does look a decent deal. 72 months though - man that's a long time to be paying off a car!

55kW engine just seems a little too little. My 1974 Datsun 140Y had more power than that.

Why do all these mini hatches have that same flat rear that the 107 (as far as I can remember) started.

Rather a Volkswagen Polo Vivo 1.4 5-Door 2014, 13,431 km at R 119,900.00 or a Ford Figo 1.4 Ambiente Used, 2014, 14,000 km at R 119,900.00

More space and cheaper (not per month, but overall, balloon payment se gat)

I very much doubt that.

Assuming of course it's stock. If not then it's hardly worth the discussion.

Only a few years ago 55kw was the standard for a 1.4 so getting that from a N/A 1.0 litre is pretty impressive I figure.

But ****ter and heavier on fuel so the overall cost is probably negated.

I would however simply take the full spec Up! on a normal finance agreement over 54 months.

R144700 + 3500 + 3200 + R800 = R152 200

R3150 ish per month.

****

Actually scratch that I see the deal includes insurance for a year and the extras and service plan.

Just take that and over pay it like it's 54 months.

There is a OR in there insurance or service plan, still an OK deal yes.

deposit might be a lot, and balloon payment

I always ask; whats the catch?

Can someone explain the maths in this deal, cos i'm a bit slow.

72 payments at R1 964 = R141k
Desposit = 10% = R13k
Balloon = R44k
Total = a bit more than R198k

They have total as R188k. What am I missing?

From here http://s12.zetaboards.com/Datto/topic/160957/1/

Standard L14 Engine:
Type: 4 cylinder in-line OHC
Bore: 83 mm
Stroke: 66 mm
Capacity: 1429 cm^3
Compression ratio: 9.0:1
Maximum hp: 80hp SAE @ 6000 rpm
Maximum torque: 11.337 kg/m @ 4200 rpm

That's 56kW standard. I'm not sure why you automatically assume I'm wrong, yet don't bother to check before accusing me of lying. I mean, we're not in the pub bragging about our cars here are we, so why would I lie about it? :)

For the record, Datsun claimed 70kW for the motor at the time, but in those days they often made claims running a bare motor, and running it to destruction. It was a damn fine motor, pity the body was made out of rusted tinfoil.

Only a few years ago 55kw was the standard for a 1.4 so getting that from a N/A 1.0 litre is pretty impressive I figure.

I agree that 55kW is pretty impressive for a N/A 1.0l motor, but I still don't think it's enough for a car these days.

Don't include the deposit I guess..
