Hi peeps..

Ok i've got only 2 pcs - 1 at each site - its at 2x fuel garages.

Both sites are on stable 4meg adsl thus 512kbps up.

Now one site is natting and other bridge.

They need to share pastel payroll/evolution data...

which would be the best....hamachi with dydns?

Any suggestions with given equipment are welcome :)

Your best solution is to find some good SaaS or CRM sofware that actually works over the internet, you'll need a domain and webhost to do this properly. Check out phreebooks

Pastel is quite bandwidth intensive, there's been a discussion on this forum about setting it up in server/client mode as opposed to remote desktop but either way dyndns would be a beginning with that.

use RDP to a dyndns address, as pastel database is to large to stream over ADSL.

setup port 3389 to forward to the correct ip address on the internal side, of the pastel server. you should then be able to RDP to the pastel server from the remote site with alot less problems, especially if the connection drops, you dont lose any data that was busy being transferred over the line, only the RDP session will drop.

Morning MrNutz,

Firstly, thank you for choosing Pastel Payroll as your Payroll service provider.
There are different solutions to your specific problem each with different cost implications.
As a simple and cost effective solution, you can install and use Pastel Payroll on one machine, and as Pastel Payroll allows you to create multiple separate companies within one package you can run the two sites completely separate with on computer and simply e-mail encrypted payslips to the site.
Should you need the sites to run their own Payroll package at each site, you have the option to purchase a site licence to accommodate the separate site and each site runs with their own package and company.
You also have the option to create a virtual private network with a workstation set up or even log into one machine via a remote desktop solution, but we need to keep in mind that security, stability and productivity could be affected by these methods.

For a completely customised setup, please call our professional services agents on +2711 304 4300 or e-mail us on support@pastelpayroll.co.za, so we can discuss the options available and find the correct setup customised and cost effective for your business.

Kind regards,
Pastel Payroll Mybroadband Team.

thanks for the replies guys...

well as they say -customer NEVER knows what they want...and this is true now...

they apparently now only want to install the payroll at ONE site (SITE1) ...and then let the other office NOT use pastel payroll at SITE2 but to access SITE1 - vnc/teamviewer would work ok but then the SITE1 pc is occupied by SITE2's vnc/teamviewer session...

Buy an extra pc for site1?

Or virtualbox the site1 PC. Watch the licencing though.

Just a correction. Phreebooks doesn't have payroll functions just yet.
