Beware big increase in scams when you renew your driver's licence

Justice Project South Africa (JPSA) has raised concerns over the number of scammers preying on motorists at licensing centres across the country.

JPSA said it was "gravely" concerned that fraudsters continue to exploit the existence of enforcement orders issued in terms of the AARTO Act.

Saw these guys when I had to renew in PTA for the first time. They are checking you even before you get out of your car.

Yep they almost scammed me in Jan 2019 - and I'm usually very suspicious and alert (read paranoid) regarding scams. These crooks are professional showmen and use clever social tricks, body language, clothing and even fake conversations with guards or traffic department staff to convince you of their legitimacy. They presented me a piece of paper with two of my car registration numbers and various fake traffic fines. What tipped me off was (1) I hardly ever get fined and (2) I sold one of the cars years prior. I said I didn't believe him and that I wanted official details on each fine. He then tried to dissuade me from going to the cashier's desk by saying I will then pay the full amount as once printed, the fine amount can no longer be discounted. I said fine, I don't mind. These are not my fines. At the last moment he bailed and ran for the hills. The security guard acted like he didn't even saw the guy, and that it was my own fault for not reading the scammer warning signs posted in the window.

i got scammed today out of 1500.I was never scammed in my life as i am to clever for them but today it happened.Not going in to much detail but i would of never given money to this faaaker but my close friend said he is legit as another buddy of his did dealings with this man.My friend is hheartbroken that i got scammed.Icant even go to the police now as i am scared.
