Beware-Honda Generators Out of Spec

Yes, it is something you buy online and wait for delivery. Six to eight week importing wait for these after ordering and when you talk to the Honda reps, they all read the specs off their website. However, when you finally get the unit in, the official manual tells a different story.

And what is it in the manual?

Well blow me down..

The Indonesian site has a different set of specs...

They rate it at 8kva, max output 9kva....

So you paid for a 5kva Honda generator, and got an 8kva one... count yourself lucky...

Wait, you bought a Honda generator online and complain ?

You could have bought it from any Genpower without having to wait 6 - 8 weeks and not have any issues now.

Genpower doesn't stock EM10000's. Even if they did, they would still have to (legally) go through Honda SA. Thus the wait and specs would be the same.

I'm just glad to see you're finally off the '5kVa' ...

But we've mentioned it before.

You're happy with the price and get a bigger generator. Still don't see the issue

You bought EXACTLY what you want. Even the EXACT model. But then whine because it's better than you thought. It just leaves me baffled.

I can just see this guy at the Merc dealership when they give him an AMG by accident.

I actually overpaid. I wanted a 5kVa rated output genset. If I had known this one was rated higher, I could have purchased a less expensive model.

Rated output (AC) of 9kVa

Maximum peak output (AC) of 10 kVa.

Guys, I will get my money's worth as it is a very good quality machine and the prices of these gensets are getting higher every month. I just want to warn those people who are designing an off-grid system to get their design specs from someone other than Honda SA.

You're actually selling this exact model now. People will opt for it above a normal 5kVa because of this thread though. Streisand Effect?

Uh, no. Guys, I know it's the first day back from a Holiday weekend, but try to keep up. Neither the output nor the maximum (peak) rating for the generator is 5kVa.

My post had sarcasm dripping off of each letter, the fact that you failed to see that doesn't surprise me though.
