Beware Telegram location chat features in South Africa

Social media law specialist and founder of The Digital Law Company, Emma Sadleir, has issued a warning regarding Telegram's "Groups Nearby" feature.

This is in the context of a major backlash against WhatsApp's privacy policy, which allows it to share user's data with other Facebook services.

Wow... While the concern for spreading some dodgy **** is real, the issue here isn't limited to Telegram. I'm pretty sure that it is significantly easier to see porn on a Google search result, than it is on Telegram. Hell, you can even see some questionable content on YouTube.

Maybe adhering to the age restriction rules OF ALL SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS is a good idea! #justsaying

Streisand Effect: Emma Sadleir has advertised this group and it probably has thousands of new members now, she could've just said there are dodgy groups out there frequented by Malusi Gigaba and other cANCer party members without mentioned the name of any group.
