Biden turns up the heat on China tech curbs — despite promising cooldown from Trump approach

President Joe Biden came to office pledging to abandon Donald Trump’s with-us-or-against-us approach to China. Instead, he’s forcing US partners to pick sides in a deepening global technology standoff.

Sweeping US curbs announced last month on the sale of semiconductors and chipmaking equipment to China mark a step change in the Biden administration’s approach to its chief geopolitical rival.

This is only going to slow China in the interim. If the US can't compete, it shouldn't throw roadblocks at other countries.

A bit OT, but I am now amused by this line,

because that is the Biden administration's political mantra on all issues USA. To be honest, this isn't even about Trump or Biden, this is inherited US policy or better said it is in their DNA. Americans love 'em strong arming.

I expect more Western media pileup on China matters. Got to train the people...
