Bidorbuy R30 standard shipping testing

MyBroadband tested Bidorbuy's R30 Standard shipping with impressive results

BoB Group recently launched a new R30 standard shipping option, which many sellers on the Bidorbuy platform have started using.

Bidorbuy sent MyBroadband a voucher to buy some items and test the new shipping option.
Well, they would of course prioritize the order and shipment for the people reviewing them and buying on a voucher supplied by the reviewee. A blind test next time maybe, Jan.

The moment I read "voucher" I figured the whole exercise was worthless. Not only that, but now also that delivery address would make any future such exercises also worthless. This may as well be "partner content".

There are some space wasting "articles" on this site, but this.... is something else.

Cheap shipping aside, BidorBuy actually got worse.
Their app is a hot mess: excruciatingly slow, inconvenient and updates are nonexistent.
The old app wasn't perfect, but at least the buying and selling process worked.
With the new app sellers have to use their website instead.
Support also suffered as support tickets would sometimes go unanswered for days.

Tech support is almost totally mia over at Bobshop, weird.
I also noticed how bad their apps are on both Android and iOs, when everyone else is scrambling to ensure their app is top notch bob is fast asleep at the wheel.

I’ve found their support to be the opposite. Recently bought something and support contacted me shortly after payment to verify whether I’m sure about the item as well as contacting the seller to enquire about the origin of the item. They also claim to not release payment to the seller until you’ve received and are satisfied with the purchase.

Since I left (few years ago now) having built their iOS app from the ground up - it has taken a nose dive for sure.

Nice , I hope this works out for Bobshop. But, of late, I have started noticing a new trend... Almost all online auction or marketplaces are declining and struggling across the globe. I am seeing more and more physical auctions happening at locations and they are filling up with people. I attended two auctions where more than 1,500 people attended and they did not have place for everyone. I see more physical shows or fairs popping up and they get more and more visitors to these events and most of them make more sales / money over a weekend than they did in 6 months online.

I suspect the online / Internet era may be dying slowly and we are heading back to physical human contact events and brick and mortar stores.

Years ago sold a lens on, well, BoB, and experienced this as a seller. All worked well, but I thought at first the whole 'escrow' thing was a scam, as someone had tried to buy the same lens with a fake Paypal payment email, from Nigeria of all places.

Sorry I meant tech support, I have added that to my post, their sales support seems pretty decent from the interactions I’ve had. I’ve never heard of that happening though, what kind of item was it that you ordered?

As far as I know they release funds to the seller the minute your payment reflects in Bidorbuy’s accounts, I’ve never heard of them withholding payouts till the buyer has received an item.

I still haven’t worked out whether this person is trolling or just genuinely batsht crazy.

Their apps are absolute garbage, it’s really bizarre considering how most companies highly value their ability to access the mobile market via apps. They also don’t fix huge glaring bugs, I tried opening tickets and they‘d either ignore them and close them or say they know about the issue and then close them without fixing anything. I experienced that repeatedly over the space of a year before I gave up.

Bought a phone. I called support to enquire about the “buyer protection” which is only limited to R2000.

I asked what would happen if I don’t receive the item or if it’s not as described. They told me they won’t release the items until they’ve received confirmation from me to do so.

After I placed the order, support called me and told me that they spoke to the seller and they’re unsure about how legit the seller is and whether I’m sure I want to proceed with the order. Initially thought it was a scam because the support agent wanted the deal for himself or something. I called the seller and confirmed IMEI numbers etc with them and contacted BOB to tell them that everything seems legit but for them not to release the funds until the phone is in my possession and I give them the go ahead.

Received the phone, everything is in order. Contacted BoB to tell them to pay the seller.

This is my first purchase on bobshop and haven’t used bidorbuy in the past 15 years but definitely will keep an eye on it from now.

Ok that explains them contacting you after the sale, they would never normally do that or withhold funds from the seller till delivery.
