Big change to how WhatsApp lets you forward messages

Reuters reports that WhatsApp will be limiting the number of times a message can be forwarded by a single user.

Previously, a single message could be forwarded up to 20 times by a single WhatsApp user. The new limit is five.

You don't have to forward the stuff, just open the attachment menu and grab the video/image from WhatsApp media if you are on Android..

Don't know what you do on iOS, I don't earn enough to buy an already chewed on Apple..

That's the whole point - if I'm spreading propaganda / fake news I'm not going to just share it on the family group.

I'm going to share it on the work one, the school one, the sport clubs one, the gym buddies one, the community watch one, the old school aquintences one etc.

I actually thought the limit means that if I write it, it can only be forwarded 5 times. Meaning I write it, person x forwards it to y, y to z, z to a, a to b and b to c and then it hits the limit. I.e. Depth limit.

We have over thirty Ward groups in Alberton for service delivery issues. We often forward to all of them in one go.
(and yes we did try to move them all over to Telegram, but it was a failure).

WhatsApp is hopelessly unsuited to managing something like that. Should have forced people to stick with Telegram. You could have not just 30 groups that are easier to manage, but a mega group with everyone in it for announcements and discussions that involve everyone.
