We got our fibre from Vodacom last year, as they're the only one who operates in our area. Full fibre, fibre-to-the-home, all that jazz.
Wonderful stuff, only it turned out the fibre cables only go up to their tower about 2km away, and it's wireless from there, which wasn't advertised. When I pressed them about it they said it's only a temporary measure until enough people in my area sign up and make it "worth their while" to install fibre all the way. Two years later, they don't seem to have caught on yet.
Still great when it works, but if it's particularly cloudy or windy it conks out intermittently, and they haven't bothered to replace the battery backup so it goes dead after an hour of load shedding (it used to last the full 3 hours when it was first set up). But I least I still get my monthly bill for Full Fibre™!
