Big jump in ATM bombings and digital fraud in SA

The South African Banking Risk Information Centre (Sabric) annual crime statistics report reveals that the country is facing an epidemic of ATM bombings and digital banking fraud.

“South Africa is grappling with a formidable array of financial and banking crimes spanning contact crimes, digital offences, application fraud, and card fraud,” the organisation stated.

Shut down ATM's. With cheap POS machines there is no reason for a business, no matter how small to no have card facilities. With bank account with either very low or zero monthly fees, no reason not to have a bank account and debit card.

If someone wants cash only it is most likely dodge.

Cash is used everyday and by many people in this county.

I can't imagine what for. Card payments are free for goodness sakes. Our domestic lady last year withdrew her entire salary at the ATM...fck knows what for...and guess what. She was mugged and all money gone. Tsk tsk.

Haibo. And have everything on the books? Where you been my Lani. For us regular folks shopping at Ww foods that will maybe work, the others, not so sure.

I can’t speak for everyone especially as use cases are different.

I have good buddy my age (late 30’s) that’s pays everything cash when we go out. Chow or shows or cinema (bioscope), just cash. And nope he is not a shady fellow in the slightest.

People have preferences & reasons.

Haibo, I just said now I can’t speak for “those people“ & I don’t cross Q my buddy or impose my view.

If he, Bob & Mike wants to pay all the Schit in cash let them.

What I can say though for a place like a Makro (Macro for 30%er) drawing the cash you need works well. You can’t overspend.

You only have R500 cash & can only spend max R500.

I know the oke since HS, been mates with since with him continuously all these years.

Unlike the many defensive folks here not everyone out there is a naai. Some okes are actually “solid” individuals.
 
CIT heists also up this year, one would think that we are having an election soon.
