OPEC+ MEETING CALLED OFF
Ministers of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its allies, a group is known as OPEC+, called off oil output talks and set no new date to resume them, after clashing last week when the United Arab Emirates rejected a proposed eight-month extension to output curbs, meaning no deal to boost production has been agreed.
"Expectations of OPEC+ not adding the extra supply to the market from August lent support on Monday, but investors are not keen to move in either direction from here due to uncertainty over actual actions by the OPEC+ members from next month," said Toshitaka Tazawa, an analyst at commodities broker Fujitomi Co.
Iraqi Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul Jabbar said on Monday that his country is committed to the current agreement with OPEC and its allies and does not want to see oil prices soaring above current levels to achieve stability. He also said he hoped that in 10 days there could be a date for the next meeting.

Yeah I'd be interested in how this pans out in SA in a few years cost wise. It won't be worth being an early adopter here, but like most new car technologies, SA will catch up eventually. I'd love my next car to be electric but let's see what's feasible.Tesla states 300-500k miles, so 500-800k km, other sources state 10% degradation for 150k for the newer stuff, this is the older one:

A look at Tesla battery degradation and replacement after 400,000 miles

So new one you're looking at 10% / 160000km or so.
My mom's old Prius (3nd gen* fixed, 2010) is hitting 300k now I think, battery is still good enough, went from 4.5l/100km to 5.0l/100km over about 10 years this year (note that it's a tiny battery, so you wear through cycles a lot faster).
It will be more interesting in regards to what Ford's stats etc. are. Note as well the saving in service costs.
Factor another ~10-15% loss for from wall to car for conversion.
Tbh, think South Africa within the next few years will probably one of the best in terms of cost wise as a lot who can afford an electric car will probably go solar/wind, and e.g. the Ford F150 allows you to use the car battery to feed back into the house during peak loads.Yeah I'd be interested in how this pans out in SA in a few years cost wise.
