Big revelation about Eskom load-shedding

This guy was shortlisted for the ceo job and he is such an idiot
How can someone so 'flat' even be shortlisted
Its no wonder Eskom is taking so long to find a capable CEO

What's the issue? They don't lose or gain exactly 1GW if something fails or comes back online, nor is there an exact 1GW reduction in demand if the specified areas are turned off.

It makes perfect sense that would be some margin of tolerance.

Does not say much for the rest then huh?

The load shedding schedules in my area have been accurate. The grid has not collapsed, yet.

So the issue is in how Eskom is reporting the load shedding - e.g. Eskom announces that they are in Stage 6, when technically they are in Stage 7?

The new document accommodates up to Stage 16 load-shedding, which means demand exceeds supply by up to 80%.
Winter Summer is coming!

The issue is that some of us have been experiencing 11.5 hours of load shedding a day where it should be no more than 10. Think for yourself, if they implement higher stages of load shedding than reported then where does this magically come from? Rather implement a stage higher for a time so everyone gets a few minutes extra a day than some of us getting all the extra load shedding.

Eskom has some gall telling Ekurhuleni they don't implement load shedding correctly when they themselves don't use the correct stages.

The stages are just a name associated with a somewhat arbitrary value. Implementing the stage 4 loadshedding schedule doesn't mean that a load of exactly 4GW suddenly disappears, it may be a bit more or a bit less and will vary. The end goal is to ensure that supply matches demand as closely as possible, which is why supply might be restored early or you may be skipped altogether at times.

Not saying that there isn't political pressure etc, but implementing higher than necessary stages would complicate things as many areas would have to skipped, which would obviously also result in confusion. For example, there's no real point in implementing the stage 4 loadshedding schedule when you're 3.3GW short, other than saving diesel.
