Big Tech CEOs grilled for "Stop the Steal" disinformation

Twitter Inc. Chief Executive Officer Jack Dorsey said he takes some responsibility for online organizing that led to the Jan. 6 riot at Capitol Hill, while the leaders of Facebook Inc. and Alphabet Inc. deflected blame during a Congressional hearing that focused on social media disinformation.

Representative Mike Doyle, a Pennsylvania Democrat, asked Dorsey, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and the head of Google and its parent Alphabet, Sundar Pichai, if their platforms bear any responsibility for disseminating “Stop the Steal” disinformation alleging the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Donald Trump. Doyle demanded a yes or no answer.

“Yes, but you also have to take into consideration a broader ecosystem,” Dorsey said. “It’s not just about the technology platforms we use.”

Of course they were all involved in silencing the opposition, sowing disinformation, rigging an election and organizing violence. What did anyone think would happen. These companies need to loose their current protection they enjoy. They need to be regulated more. They need to be broken up and scaled down, they simply have too much power to get involved in and pull off the nonesense we saw preceding the US elections.

You're going to give @Arthur a heart attack with talk about such extreme government interference. Sounding more like a democrat every day!

And the moment you interfere with the people, and decide what they can write, read, see or hear, then you are busy rigging an election.
What did big tech do to rig elections? They censored Trump after the election and riots so, people were free to choose as they wish. They only stopped him when it was obvious he won't return as president. I don't agree with them but their decisions didn't have any impact on the outcome of the election.

Rubbish, they have a responsibility to remove blatant disinformation.

Like removing all posts related to Biden Hunter and his Chinese links and corruption ahead of the elections? There are many other examples too. In fact, they and CNN both admitted that they were wrong to censor this news and social media posts and removing accounts that spoke about it.

Twitter and Facebook's action over Joe Biden article reignites bias claims

Twitter: Censoring NY Post’s Hunter Biden Story a ‘Mistake’

So, any other excuse that this did not happen is simply propaganda.

This was nothing else but silencing the opposition and election rigging in America.

You think the government should have control of what people can write, read, see or hear? Rather than the business and the media that make it possible to disseminate information? Like it is in China? Because by advocating for government regulation over what information gets disseminated, that's basically what you're asking for. More government control over what people say and more government control over what information people get to see.

This article and what happened in America had nothing to do about government control over people. You are shifting the goal posts. This article shows the dangers of how elections was and can be rigged by private companies. It should never be allowed. No private company in the world should have this powers and they should be regulated and broken up to prevent this.

Anybody with half a bran cell knows that the Hunter Biden stories were diversions and distractions.
They were and are non-stories.
The GOP desperately trying to dig up any dirt they can find, and just flat out lying in the process.

So, you can then see my point in the private companies deciding what news people could see, read, hear or speak about, right? You feel it is non-stories and decide that 400 million other people does not need to know about it, right? This is censoring and censoring done with the aim of changing the outcome of an election. This is election fraud.

I'm not changing the goalposts, I'm challenging your assertion that government must take control. You specifically said (and I quote)
These companies need to loose their current protection they enjoy. They need to be regulated more. They need to be broken up and scaled down,
You are advocating for more government control. If government can regulate media and social media (more than they do), can break up companies they see as a threat, force business to scale down as you assert should happen, that is government control over people. I mean what, are you naive enough to think the government will only use these powers you want to give them for enforcing transparency and truth and fairness? Never for suppression or propoganda?

Bull pucky. They were given a fair chance to provide the evidence.
No evidence means it's a non-story.
This is not an open-ended thing where we hope the evidence shows up one day at some point in the future.
If you can't prove your claims then they are false.

I would rather see full freedom of speech, but at the same time healthy and timeous sanctions against people and companies when lies are disseminated as truth.

Funny you mention it. The FBI already started an investigation into the matter before the elections. FBI do not involve themselves in a matter where there is no evidence. Again, back to what is newsworthy... typical democrats would say this is a non-story because there is no evidence... while other news media actually ran with the story.

And, lastly, referring you back that even Twitter admitted they were wrong in censoring the news. They even admitted this in a congretional hearing. So....

Almost 5 months later, still waiting for this "evidence". Trumpets keep mentioning it, yet I sit here waiting for it - and nothing. After that semi blew over, out came the Hunter Biden laptop drama - still waiting for something on that too. It's become quite sad really. I guess evidence is a communist / democtrats / socialist thing now too?

As for censorship, if you have a man-child spewing out crap millions of followers believe, clearly they need their hand held. The opposition of this is quite confusing. Trumpets and republicans are all about no regulations, so these big companies should be left alone right? Or is this one of those cases where your own rules don't suit you?
