Big upgrade for Huawei smartphones in SA

Huawei has announced that its new EMUI 9.1 operating system upgrade will begin rolling out this month for selected Huawei devices.

The OS update include a host of new features, including the third iteration of Huawei’s GPU Turbo technology, which improves gaming performance while reducing power consumption.

I also received the update last month on my P Smart (2017)
I also did, too. To be honest, I am disappointed by Android 9, I find it sluggish compared to 8. I am hoping they will iron out the issues with further updates.

Could this be due to hardware or memory limitations on your device?

You guys do realise the article is about EMUI 9.1 and NOT 9.01.
Just checked. It was the 9.1 update I received

Very possible.

I actually thought about it after experiencing the performance stutters. 3.7 GB or thereabout is huge for such an old phone.

My P30, on the other hand, is doing well after the update which leads me to believe you may have a point there.

apologies then

Woah you lucky to receive it so soon for a 2 year old phone.
Nice. My wife's one should be due then as well. i have to check up
I have already got a security update notification two days ago on EMUI 9.1.

I am happy that Huawei is actually taking time out to update such an old phone.
If it wasn't for Trump (I'll admit, we don't know what will happen with this issue) I would still stick with Huawei ony next upgrade.

I quite like the idea of the Mate 30.
