Biggest waste of time and money

I've been trying since friday night to get this up and running and I now give up!

I installed the game plus all expansions and patches. Created a trial account and the game wouldn't recognize my trial because BC and WotLK were installed. I uninstalled everything, reinstalled only WoW and tried to login. Then it started with the updates.

First it was a 1 gig update, the downloader popped up and I went to bed. Turns out the downloader is a p2p thing and over the course of the night I downloaded next to nothing but uploaded over a gig. The downloader ran all day and finally finished just after 7 tonight. Then there was another smalish download and now I need to download a 3.2 Gig update?!

WTF blizzard?! Just WTF!

So now I have to pay for 6-7gigs bandwidth to get this update? No freaking way! Can't believe I've wasted my whole weekend on this and so much money on bandwidth. what a load of crap.

Blizzard should actually like, give a CD with the gamecards you buy, with ALL the latest updates and patches. (Then we would also know exactly how old the card is)

I didnt read your previous thread, but I am sure that someone would have mentioned that. It saves time, bandwidth. And works 100% running from the copied folder. I copied my cleaned out folder for a random person end of last week, and they are level20 already

I just created a trial account, ran from my existing folder which is installed up to Lich King, and it worked perfectly. You must be missing a patch somewhere. Understanding how Blizzard patches and runs the updates takes time and you have to get used to it. A big patch applies to all versions of WoW, not just the lastest copy if it has the latest content in. Even if you stick to a WoW Classic copy, you need to be patched for everything up to the latest Lich King content.

Anyways, I suggest if you really want to give it a shot, then get a working folder from someone, it worked here fine

i copy my friends my entire folder with BC and WOTLK and make them trails accounts all the time make sure u making the trail from the eu wow site not the us (btw its ure falt about the dloads since if u had to look at the downloader theres an option the disable p2p transfer)

Also there are many sites hosting the patches via direct HTTP download.. LOCAL mirrors as well which you could grab from.

At WebAfrica local prepaid prices.. R19 a local GB its fine...

Well I just tried from someone's pc that is fully up to date with Lich King and the trial did not work.

Try deleting the WTF and caches folders.

we did, apparently thats quite a common solution. I've just come home from a friend who is also fully up to date with all expansions and my trial account didn't work there either. I'm gonna go onto LOTRO

Blizzard doesn't fail, Telkom does. This would be a non-issue for most countries. You can't blame Blizzard for our problems.

The downloader also clearly states that it makes use of P2P, which you can deactivate.
