Bike not starting •

Yeah if it was the kill switch, clutch switch or even side stand switch then it should do absolutely nothing when you hit the button.

Although with non-FI bikes I have sometimes heard the killswitch being off still making it sound like the bike is attempting to start.

So your logic is sound that it's petrol or spark or something mechanical. Have you tried putting something in/over the exhaust to add some back pressure?

Does it start with a push start?

I have not tried either, do you reckon push starting would make a difference?

Actually a grand idea. IF there is an issue with timing then there will be back fire and no start. Then you'll know for sure it's a timing issue.

Thanks so much guys! I am almost certain it is a timing issue, but I think the woodruff key is more likely than the timing chain going? So I will start there.

Well a push start would at least answer the problem of it being related to the starting circuit.

Nothing to lose really.
