If I had a business which needed a full time internet connection without any disruptions, I'd be very happy right now :p

If I had a PCMCIA data card, then I would definitely be interested in this product, however I use the Huawei E220 USB HSDPA modem.

I wonder if a PCMCIA<-->USB adapter would work provided the Billion 7300GX knew what to do with an attached Huawei E220, maybe one of Nology guys can comment?

Do you need to use the built in ADSL or can you use Ethernet for the second WAN? Reason I ask I'm moving to an estate with Ethernet/Fiber and would like to use 3g as a backup.

Hi

No it does not come with a WAN port, only 4 LAN ports an ADSL port and a PCMCIA slot for the 3G/HSDPA card.

Is there any more info on how the fail over from ADSL to 3G works? The Billion site is very lean.

mmm you could in theory do something like that, connect the estates lan to the router, i think you would still need to dial the 3g manually.

if it has a auto fallover to 3g that would solve telkomsuig's problem.

Hi Guys

Just to let you know that the auto failover will be ready in August and will come in the form of an F/W upgrade that will be available on the Billion SA website at no additional cost.

Cool. Any idea if the fail-over will entail some sort SMS / email alert? I'm really keen on being able to use this for clients with ADSL, so knowing when it has failed over will be very useful.

So what happens in the mean time (while we wait for the firmware) do you have to manually specify the primary gateway?

Is pricing available yet?

Hi

There will not be email alert. For example: by default WAN1 will be the ADSL/RJ11 port and then WAN2 the PCMCIA slot. When WAN1 fails then it goes over to WAN2 and then when WAN1 becomes available it will automatically fall back to WAN1 again, unless otherwise specified.

In the meantime you must manually specify the primary gateway.

And for the pricing you could go to our "where to buy" web page and query the price with one of our dealers. ;);)

Thanks for the feedback. Any chance we can ask for an alert system in future FW releases then? Would make sense to me, you've got the 3G card ready to send SMSes, so just use it :p

I'll get pricing from the suppliers then ;)

Hi

Just some info regarding the "alert" system.

Together with the auto failover F/W, they will implement a msg system that will come in the form of an email to tell you what connection you are using.
