Has any experienced a problem with the Billion 711 ADSL modem that will not sync?

We had a site that ran a Netgear 602 for more than 6 months then stopped working, we installed a Billion 711 cause it ICASA apporved and Telkom said it must be ICASA approved, but the modem still would not sync!

BTW Netgear modem was moved to another location and installed and works perefctly!!

Hi there.

If the Netgear modem was faulty at location A and worked fine at location B then location A's wiring or ADSL link from Telkom might be faulty. This is my conclusion seeing as the Billion 711 is not working at location A either...

If that is not the problem try flashing the Billion 711 with the new firmware. Sometimes a simple flash will solve the problem...

Cheers

The Billion 711 syncing problem is just a firmware issue. The specific firmware you are using (080902_BiREL9PB102e_a) is a bit more restrictive with regards to distance. It does sync if you are closer to the exchange.
The older and newer firmware has been tested and checked with regards to this matter and the matter has been resolved.
You can download the new firmware on our website at www.commenicate.com
You can also try and change the following settings:
Goto to Configuration, Advanced, ADSL and set Wiring Selection to "Tip/Ring" and the Enable the Bit Swapping.
If you experience any problem you can contact Commenicate at 086000adsl (2375).<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"><i>Originally posted by doorknob</i>
