Hi all,
I'm trying to set up my home network and I'm not winning at the moment.
Here's what I have:
1) Linux desktop (Mandriva 2010). It has a static IP and is connected via LAN cable to the billion router
2) Windows / Linux (dual boot) laptop.
I want the desktop to be a local web server / samba, etc. I connect the vodacom modem (usb) to the PC and get a connection, but the PC still can't access the internet.
This is probably due to it trying to look for a connection at the modem.
I'm not sure what needs to be set to what? I set the gateway of the PC to the billion router's IP address. In the router, I set its DNS to some DNS address that vodacom uses, but no joy.
I'm not that sure that I can even do what I want? That is, connect me home network through the router and have access to the internet. However, I've seen that billion sells routers which allow you to plug a 3g modem into them, so not sure if I can have the router and a separate 3g modem?
Anyone done this?
Thanks,
John
