Apparently the french troops had him in their sights twice in the space of a few months, the yanks never passed on the order to fire!!!
Not happy with the French getting the glory perhaps?

Does anyone really believe that a sniper would need permission to shoot Bin Laden? Please. The story is complete nonsense and has been retold countless times with only the nationalities of the snipers changed.
