BIS becomes legacy service; MTN BlackBerry Absolute package revealed

Blackberry on a downhill after this.

R59 for 200MB, 65c/MB OOB rate what a joke.

guess they will lose more customers to cell c.

cell c R60=400MB OOB rate of 15c/MB

So this is MTNs way of saying "Buy a iPhone from CellC"?

Well I wouldn't have expected more from that rip off company called MTN,expecting similar k@k deals form vodacom.

Hopefully Cell C and 8ta will give BB10 users some proper decent packages with a gig or two instead of re-branded data bundles at R60 for a lowly 200mb.

BB10 devices will use a lot more data than current BB7 so 200mb wont go very far for the average user IMO.

I'm guessing Cell C will give at least a gig at that price point maybe more.

“BlackBerry Absolute” service plan, which will also cost R59 per month, comes with a 200MB “fair use” limit.
Why on earth call it a “fair use” limit when it is a "bundle", nothing more, nothing less? :wtf:

Convention has it that fair use indicates throttling after a certain limit is reached.

Its pure marketing garbage.

'Fair use' that is unfair to you and fair to them. It is a cut 'off policy'. It is not even throttled to 56kb/s. Those Nokia smartphone bundles from Nashua are beginning to sound a whole lot better now that we've got real BIS (BlackBerry Internet S**t).

This is disgusting. These people should be ashamed as the only reason I can think for doing this is to milk their non-tech savy BB customers, who are going to be too lazy to review the change properly, for every cent possible before they all jump ship off of BB7.

Truly, shame on MTN. I really hope karma pays a visit to the people responsible for this customer abuse. I would equate it to stealing from pensioners because that is the group that is likely to be swindled here.

I've asked that same question before and received some spin about how they don't want to confuse their customers. It was such a strange, nonsense response it completely took me by surprise.

Indeed. In the case of these BlackBerry packages, however, there are "out of fair use" charges. So throttling + OOB shark? I tend to agree with McCrazieGoalz - it appears to be nothing more than marketing spin.

Its not clear but does BBM, email and social media add to the data use or is it only the browser that does.

Blackberry will die very quickly in this country if this is the way the guys are going.

Even my girlfriend is about to ditch her Crackberry...

lol@crapberries! but seriously this is a joke? R59 for 200MB?!
