So this has been really something i have no idea what to do.. with all the Bitcoin news with the fork split and Ethereum doing pretty well from $20 now on $44 in 2 weeks time and reading articles everywhere.. I still have no idea.. should i just continue investing in Bitcoin or transfer my money over to buying Ethereum instead?

I am sort of having the same thoughts, I only just started buying small amounts of bitcoins, the next thing you hear is "Ethereum" that's what you should be buying.

Unless you're willing to invest time into learning about what your money goes into, don't put your money into them.

I was thinking about that, would I be able to make just as much over a long term if I buy equities like Capitec and Shoprite and Woolworths??

These things are only valued by their use. If tomorrow nobody wants to deal in Ethereum?

Only real reason i am still only investing in Bitcoin as you can buy with it from a lot of online shops these days even in South Africa, but with Ethereum you can't yet.. need to them first transfer your money back to Bitcoin to make use of it.

But who knows maybe in time?

If it's stability - Bitcoin
If it's growth - Ether
Risk with both is huge but consider that even buying R1000 Ether can net you R100,000 in the long run. It's not something you put serious money in like your R100k pension hoping to retire a multi millionaire. Unless R100k is your pocket change.

The future is still to be determined. The big players are investing in the blockchain technology for their own uses and not the actual currency.

Ethereum will surpass bitcoin, but bitcoin will still go much much higher than it is now.

Bought some Bitcoin for R10k. Transferred half with Changelly with the remaining being worth ~R4900. Now my Ether is only worth R4200. Something seriously dodge.

How so? Did the price just not go down, or are you missing cash you put in?

Fees and different exchange values? It's not 1:1

It's weird. I did a quote and I'd get back more or less what I put in with Bitcoin minus the 2% drop since I bought. So I don't know. Maybe I'm just not getting the correct price from https://ethereumprice.org/
