Black Myth: Wukong hits 1.4m concurrent users on Steam, surpassing Elden Ring, Cyberpunk

Yea look, like 80% (if not more) of the players are from China, it's still impressive though.

But I am a bit perplexed about why it's so popular, nothing I've seen from the reviews exactly stand out to me, it looks like a pretty standard action RPG with very nice graphics...

started playing last night for abt 5hrs & absolutely amazed at how good this game is. Its not really hard like souls hard, but provides a lovely challenge esp. bosses. The game is gorgeous definitely & plays well on PS, have not had issues yet.
Let me put it this way, if you love an action fighting game with some challenge, then go get it now. If you love lore/ chinese folklore etc , its a bonus. It progresses well & you look forward to meeting the next encounter & story.
The game just feels like it was made for players ! "4 the players" & that is rare nowadays with all the agenda pushing etc. This game is clean pure raw fun simple. I'd give it a 9/10 so far but then again I'm nowhere near the end.

The little I've seen of it seems like a Chinese God of War...
I like the atmosphere and sound track, will for sure pick it up on sale down the road.

We should encourage them into giving us a BRICS discount or something.

At least the Sun Wukong/Monkey King is an original.

DC recently introduced his son, not an original, into their universe:

Sun Wukong does have children, but not like the above.

Wukong characters do appear in other gaming titles. Dota, LoL, and HotS, have their Wukong. Popular in Chinese myths and legends.

Given China's size this is considered a nice little indie game, fk me that market is massive.

It's popular in China, one company gave employees off today to play it, cool to see them do a proper action game.

The small mobile games that make lots of money probably suck up all the talent in China, which is a shame, they were the masters of action movies for decades, hope this game inspires them to make big ticket action stuff.

Not a bad list:

Though, eh, in those parts, the Russians have made better games. Yeah, Chinese talent do get sucked up in the mobile arena, but mobile games are also cash cows.

Chinese devs made FTL which was a good indie title, and Once Human which recently released is gaining traction.

I still like my JRPGs more. The Japanese know how to make a good game.

Our local talent, The Brotherhood, is simply brilliant. The people who made Stasis.

yeah. I specifically checked if there were new drivers before I downloaded the benchmark.
Then I ran it and while it was running I was checking news on my phone and saw the new drivers were released which is why I managed to get these two results.

Looks like this game is only available on the PS store. Will we be getting hard copies in South Africa?

I don't think so. There is a collector's edition, but I think it includes a digital key only. It is also very expensive, and I don't think it will be available in all regions.

I think they are being really harsh. This game is very demanding and the consoles can't run it as simple as that.

They have to explore and push all the technologies to the limit to keep a balance between graphical fertility and performance.

I guess updates will fix stuff but they managed to get a decent product out at launch.
