What is BlackBerry®™
BlackBerry®™ is a wireless communication tool designed especially for mobile professionals with high communication needs. Not only does it function as a regular cellphone would, but its unique features (push-based technology) provide an automatic delivery of your email, whether it’s a corporate email account or personal web-based account, making it possible to read, forward, reply and delete those all important emails – attachments included!
In addition to the above features, it allows you to manage your contacts and calendar, making it a full personal assistant in handset form.

The benefits of BlackBerry®™:
• One communication device: Single, integrated device for all your data and voice needs
• Buys you time: returning to your office is no longer necessary as you can access your email with attachments wirelessly
• Easy to use: device activation and provisioning is simplified through wireless and automatic device configuration
• Email finds you: messages are automatically pushed to you
• Fast response: you’re in contact with clients, customers, friends and family 24/7
• Convenient: small enough to fit in your pocket, compact enough to travel with
• You're in control: filter your messages to your convenience
• Unparalleled security: all incoming and outgoing wireless data and messages are encrypted and decrypted.

MTN’S fantastic competitively priced BlackBerry offers include:
• Brand new BlackBerry devices available at no additional cost on most price plans, as well as upon contract renewal
• MTN’s BlackBerry is faster, being supported by GPRS+ and, in some areas, by the even faster performance of EDGE technology
• MTN provides BlackBerry device financing options, which means that you have access to BlackBerry without having to take out a new contract or pay for a device upfront
• MTN has a dedicated team of experts trained in handling personal and corporate use of BlackBerry
• MTN will offer three month unlimited e-mail usage with no additional data costs on the BlackBerry APN

How does it work?
BlackBerry®™ uses General Packet Radio Service, or GPRS to stay always connected to your email service. GPRS also ensures that there are no ‘per minute’ charges for being connected to your email. In fact, charges are kept relatively low depending on the BlackBerry®™ service which suits you and your needs best. Think of it as a never-stops-working Internet and email connection in your pocket.

There are two types of BlackBerry®™ services, each tailored to your needs:
BlackBerry®™ Web Client BlackBerry®™ Enterprise
BlackBerry®™ Web Client has been created for individuals and businesses that have an internet-based (IMAP4 or POP3) email service. Emails from up to 10 different ISP (or other email accounts) can be sent to your BlackBerry®™™ handset. BlackBerry®™ Enterprise has been designed specifically to integrate with corporate email systems. It works seamlessly with your existing Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Domino environments, enabling email and calendar information to be synchronised wirelessly. Through connecting your BlackBerry®™ device to your PC, you can also synchronise tasks and contact details.

BlackBerry®™ is a brand new wireless communication tool

Nice to see this kind of informative post for those who are not aware of these things.
Just wondering how `brand new' Blackberry really is... or maybe the question is who is it new to... MTN?

This post was intended for people that have enquired about Blackberry and how it work's I guess - BlackBerry would be brand new to anyone that hasn't used one before.

Nothing available yet , it's in the process of being network tested .

Looking on our database, we have reports from the lab which shows as failed.
I will find out why.

Will advise ASAP

Been with MTN since they first started - can't say I've ever had a problem.

Probably shouldn't say things like that - tempts fate!

Thanks for the offer Noswal, but, testing will have to be done by the testers here at MTN at this stage.

Thanks

I was talking about the lack of support that MTNers have had from MTN on this forum. Just look at previous posts on how many MTN helpers we have had and how quick they flake out on us.

So it might be that MTN has helped you on other areas, but they have a lot of catching up to do on this forum.

I'm not going to even comment on how good a job (or not) mtn data dude is doing, because that usually the trigger for the MTN helper to leave! :p

Thanks for the link - can you suggest where I might look for blackberry service prices? I'm not too keen on taking out a contract if I dont have to as I already have my own 7290 - unless they're offering the 8700 :)
