BlackBerry buys iPhones to win customers back

I almost thought blackberry bought the apple company  what a disaster that would be :p

They would not have the capital... but must admit I was a little baffled at first and had to read it twice...

Lol, they probably take the traded in phones and use them to upgrade their Staff phones. :D

That laughable Assport not selling so well? Gee, I'm shocked.

They've definitely got a market

Yeah, "technologically challenged" people. The

"Huurrrr, how do I Android? Touch screens are dumb. Why doesn't this thing have ridiculously tiny and finicky physical buttons? Where do I put the paraffin?"

crowd.

Shame on you for all the negative comments!!!

As Jim Balsillie has said in 2007 : "The recent launch of Apple's iPhone does not pose a threat to Research In Motion Ltd.'s consumer-geared BlackBerry Pearl and simply marks the entry of yet another competitor into the smartphone market."

I don't want/need all the cr4pware that you find bloating phones nowadays. I just need a phone, with awesome call clarity, an old school decent clicky keyboard, long battery life, good syncing and decent usable business apps. Ahhhh, guess what? The passport ticks all the boxes. The haters are going to be scratching their heads at the (at last) success of this beauty. I want one ASAP!

The BlackBerry Passport is doing well .
It's a sell out in all regions it's launched in.

I think you are shocked BlackBerry is trying something different and not like the other's copying each other.

Different is good, but not if it's stupid different. It's like a company coming out with a car with square wheels and then saying "look how unique we are, everyone else is copying each other with their silly round wheels". That would be stupid different. Wheels are round for a reason. Just like phones are not square, for a reason.

Today's smartphones only display 30 characters left to right on a single line.
The BlackBerry Passport displays 60 characters left to right.
The human eye is comfortable of viewing 66 characters in a line .The BlackBerry Passport is close to it.

With the widest screen(1440 x 1440 resolution) on the market and a 1:1 ratio you wont be zooming in/out and flipping your phone to it's side when viewing web pages, editing docs ,and spreadsheets.

The passport is not made for everyone .It's for a mobile professional that requires just 1 on the move.

Your unswerving support is so noble, but the Passport has tanked, hardly no one wants one (other than the odd person like you). It's done quite badly and there is quite a big reason it's a sell out. Blackberry only ordered a small amount, so not even Blackberry expected it to do well. 200 000 units sold, wow, Apple or Samsung will do that in the first 30 minutes of a flagship launch (and more).

the smartphone sold 200,000 units in its first two days on sale and that it sold out on Amazon within 10 hours.
It's unlikely that the smartphone has seen the same success as the iPhone 6 or Galaxy S5, for example, as Chen went on to admit that "we took a very conservative approach and didn’t order too many".

John Chen is CEO of Blackberry, so not even he expected it to do well.

It doesn't help that it's fugly as well.
