Hope this is correct place for this thread? Otherwise Mods, pls move...
We've just received a few new laptops, with the new version of MS Office 2007 on, and discovered that the new Office uses a different file format than old 2002/2003 versions.
Microsoft has released an update 'patch' for users of the 'old' versions of Office to enable viewing of Office2007 files, but has anybody had success in getting an upgrade for Blackberry?
Our dirs are using Blackberry 8700, and it does not like the new Office2007 files.
Anybody know if (how/where) there is an update for BBs?

Being a mac (and blackberry) user I feel your pain wrt this new office format - your best bet in the short term is to save in the old format.

Who's your provider? MTN or Vodacom?

sp is MTN
I've told the guys to Save As old format, yet it does leave a bad taste, to have new version and go back.
From what I gathered, MS Office was released in Jan07 already, so now 8months later, can't find compatibility patch update for BB
Still, like u said, even Mac files are problem... why RIM not creating updates/compatibilties...

I mean that until last week macs couldnt open that annoying new office format either.

Apparently BES 4.1.4 and above supports Office Open XML - you should ask MTN when they'll make it available.

EDIT - I'm asking around to see if any of my mates uses Office 07 so they can send me a test doc.

And forgo stability and reliability? Yeah, well no thanks. ;)

Mobile 6.0 is very stable ... to be quite honest all the Operating Systems from 2003 until now have been quite stable for me ...
If the horse looses the race the jockey gets fired ... the problem is most guyz using these devices dont really know how to operate them correctly. it is not their fault when the boyz selling them the device dont have a clue on operating them either.

So you've never been forced to restart any of the devices using Windows Mobile?

i typically reboot my PDA's once a month. it is not a train smash ... look at these dudez that have gone and upgraded their desktop machinez and now their mobilke devices have no idea of what is going on
