Blackberry Torch 9800 : MTN - 3G\Edge

So my wife got a torch 9800.

For the three days she has had the phone it has been on EDGE more then 70% of the time. Now I have an HTC and in the same areas on the same network(MTN) I am on 3G 90% of the time.

As it stands the phone is barely usable most of the time for browsing the net taking minutes to open a fairly heavy website while my HTC does the same in seconds...

So my question is : Is this a general problem with this model of phone or if I get it replaced should this fix her problem?

My 9780 always looses the bis 3G forcing me to only use edge but my moms same phone and network is 3G. Wife doesn't have. 3G capable phone yet

Really don't know. How would they even know you were in there?

Im guessing since the phone does not support 3G only mode, but I guess it is worth a try.

Guys, if you do a manual network search, the network it picks up is one of 2- MTN 3G and MTN 2G, select the 3G option.

i have a 9800 on cell c and i thought it was only my phone where i would lose the 3G BIS and forces me to go to EDGE
