Not for Cape Town :D

"Stage 1 loadshedding will be avoided due to the City having spare generation capacity available."

I will see about Strand/Somerset-West... Gordon's Bay and Sir Lowry's is Eskom.

Ironic because Gordon's Bay and Sir Lowry's is right next to the city's magical new power source, yet they don't benefit from it.

Strand/Somerset-West is city fed.

It's not new (completed in 1979), but the Steenbras pumped storage is magical at a time like this...

I know, but why have they only recently started using it? Was it being upgraded/refurbished 'till now or is the good rains only making it economically viable now?

AFAIK Steenbras pumped storage has always been in use (and always owned by Co-CT), and uses no 'net' water (day/night are balanced). I assume it has become more noteworthy, because Cape Town (and Joburg) are allowed to set their load shedding priorities within an overall Eskom target. The same applies to major industrial users who have co-generating facilities. Other towns without such load balancing capacity don't have this luxury.

Power is still on in Strand/Somerset West. Good, CoCT sticking to their word.
