Blade Runner director signs on to make Dune reboot

*ponders*

I'm not sure this is a good thing...

I don't know if Hollywood can do the story and the visuals justice.

Anybody who has read the Dune series will know how monumental this film project is going to be.

Please don't fsck it up!

Yea, needs to be done as an epic, not crammed into a single film. And Paul needs to be someone with screen presence and charisma, as he's a powerful figure. Not the Rock, not Tom Hardy.

I could see a younger Ewan McGregor playing it. Maybe Cumberbatch.

I'm reading Dune at the moment... well - Dune Messiah, very difficult to get through compare to some of the others.

Well, can only be better than the previous Dune movies, no way to **** it up more.
So far : The books > Games > beer > .......... > movies

Oh, and Blade runner was great movie too, the sequel looks good too. Who have read the book of Blade runner (Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?)?

I'm trying to read the Dune series, but 10% of the way into the first book and I keep wanting to put it down and go do something else. Everyone rates the series so highly, but I'm really struggling to enjoy it. Had the same problem with The Dark Tower. Heard great things about it, started reading the first book and 10% of the way in realised it is going to be a struggle to keep myself reading it to the end. By the time I finished it I decided I didn't care to read any more of the series. I hope that my interest in Dune picks up soon.

Difficult to do the story justice in only one movie, the mini-series was the right idea but the execution/effects/casting where horrific (Caper van Dien???) . Still have a soft spot for the 1984 movie, thought the casting, effects and art direction where all very good..

I'm one of the very few fans of the David Lynch adaptation, even though it was kind of terrible. The atmosphere in that film was superb.

I loved Lynch's version too, even though it wasn't that great. One of the few scenes he gets right is the hunter-seeker scene in Paul's room. That was tense!

Planet Arrakis; home of the spice melange, the noble Atreides, the insidious Ordos and the evil Harkonnen. Atreides Sonic Tank FTW!! Sigh, the memories...

Agree, please don't cock it up!
