No hoaxes either?;)

No matter what blood =

Who knows... I just remember reading about it. And in a reputable publication. And I certainly don't believe everything a doctor says.

the HIV virus dies when it comes into contact with air

This is not strictly true. HIV is enveloped by a lipid membrane which granted does not survive for long when outside the body however it all depends on the amount of blood and circumstances which may aid transmission. If air killed HIV instantly then the sharing of needles would be no concern for drug users.

+1. Just like sperm
This is simple not true & I'm greatly disappointed to see such info stand for years on mybb without someone telling said posters to STFU in no uncertain terms.

For clarification...generally if something of dubious nature touches any part of your body then its crucial to evaluate the nature of the surface it touched. e.g. Normal skin (e.g. arm) is generally OK...clean it with disinfectant soap & it should be fine. Any kind of mucous membrane or similar...you do not fk around with that ...haul ass to a doctor and tell him/her what happened. So eyes, mouth, nose, genitals etc. Also open wounds. Anything that involves fluids touching fluids is very bad news.

Remember a lot of the scary stuff can be fixed if you get your ass into gear asap....not tomorrow...right fking now. e.g. Nurses occasionally get sticked with needles known to be infected with HIV...yet it works out fine most of the time. Why? They take said nurse, pump them full of every ARV known to mankind and send them home for a month. Sure they puke their guts out and have a rough time in general during that month...but thats a lot better than HIV/AIDS for life. Also...standard HIV tests have a delay...i.e. If I get infected right now, haul ass to the hospital and get a standard HIV/AIDS test then it'll show up as negative. So if you are in an emergency situation make sure they don't just give you a standard test & send you home.

Blood smells like iron.
Indeed it does - though its faint. Also tastes "metallic". (And yes I'm a vampire - hence me knowing this)

I have 2 uncles who are doctors. Thy both got stuck with HIV infected needles from infected patients on separate occasions. They got treated immediately , and were home for weeks, sick as a dog. They both turned out fine thankfully

Why take a risk? Simple as that. If someone says 'it dies in contact with air', would they be comfortable then stepping in a smear of blood with a cut open foot or something? I sure as hell would not be.
