hmmm... anyone gonna import these to SA ?? even if we get it at $200 its still cheaper than anything here!

Just saw one in a supplement to Rapport advertising a Samsung BRP for R1999 at some AV expo.

I don't think ntsc is a problem anymore with high def players. The player outputs standard 1080p.
Region encoding for movies will be a problem.

Isn't frame rate or refresh rate still an issue? Although I suppose most HD tv's can handle it?

I think it is safe to say that if your hdtv is new enough to have a hdmi port then you won't have any problems with incompatible formats or refresh rates. If your tv doesn't have an hdmi port then you are wasting your money buying a bluray player.

even if a blu ray player was R1000 i think its crazy the prices of blu ray movies :eek: there was a 'special' from Phase 2 cds and the movies were R230-R300? Special se voet.dvd rips ftw
