BlueBean will be moving you, our customer forward by converting your BlueBean Credit Card account to a Standard Bank Gold Credit Card account in August. This means you will get the great benefits of being a Standard Bank Gold Credit Card customer.

Your existing BlueBean Credit Card still works and will be replaced with a Standard Bank Gold Credit Card on renewal. We will handle the entire process for you and you don’t need to do a thing.

I wonder if this is actually allowed. What are the banking fee differances?

Got a similar sms that Absa Plat changing to Absa premier, not sure whats about, was supposed to happen today. I do know that Private vs Plat has nearly double the fees.

This is not the first time that Bluebean changes account providers. I used to have a Bluebean credit card through Edgars (just as a free backup). It was moved to a new provider (can't remember who) and suddenly there was a monthly charge and my account was no longer free. Closed it there and then (after jumping through all their required hoops). Have been surviving just fine without that backup credit card ever since.

If you want a back up get a Virgin Money card. There's a R150 sign up fee, but no monthly or annual fee.

Old timer voice: Back in my day it was free to get the VM CC...

Yes grandpa, and you walked 15km to school each day, in the snow, uphill, in both directions.

I actually liked the Blue Bean concept with the card that was free if you swiped for R2 000pm. I wanted one until they cancelled that option.

Got a sms saying that fees will stay the same. I guess they mean for the first year, will see thereafter.
