BMW is losing the plot. That thing has the profile of a 6-series from the side, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's almost the same size...

Thats the whole point. The 2 series is the coupe version of the 1 series. The 4 series is the coupe version of the 3 series. The 6 series is the coupe version of the 5 series.

Audi does the same and so does Merc.

I know it's the whole point, but these are not merely coupe versions. The entire profile of the cars have changed. A 435i is far removed from what a 335i would look like...

2nd pic black stripe at bottom really improves the profile...but I bet thats going to be a mud magnet.

Very nice... I just wish BMW could do more with their interior.
It's been basically the same style since Y2K.

Unless there's a newer gear level than the one in the pictures above, the earliest car I can think of that I've actually driven and has the exact same is a 2004 645i. I don't think it was that "new" back then either. The interiors are still nice but rather bland. They age well (at least the look, not necessarily the materials) but are a bit bland. That interior above is basically exactly the same as a 2012 320i...
