BMW is pumping R4.2 billion into South Africa

They must be saving shed loads on taxes to keep investing here.
 
This is the company that gave the world subscription car functionality. They are already known to not be very clever.
 
Lol, the usual naysayers are already up in arms.
 
Unlike the petrol-powered X3 currently being made at the plant, it will be destined solely for the export market and not sold in South Africa.
So no hybrid X3s for us only for export? :(
 
Any idea if Roslyn has exception from Load Shedding? Probably a tax benefit and you have really cheap labour with a weak rand sounds like everyone is winning!
 
They are only doing this as an act of self preservation, not as a vote of confidence. If they do not upgrade the plant, they won't be able to export most of the cars there to Europe anymore and will lose all the benefits under APDP. So it was cough up and export or shut down the plant.
