For the year or the month?

No, insurance is around R1.4k for a 800k car. Unless you drive into everything.
Are you sure ?

When I financed my last car I paid R1000 and the car was only worth R200k. This was after shopping around.
I was 30+ at the time and I hadn't had an accident in 5+ years. Its R600 now that the car is paid off and no claims other than the windscreen.
There is a sliding scale on these things and you pay a much higher rate when you are financing 100% like this... perhaps even more with a residual.

Also BMW is going to be more than if you insured a SUV, because its not exactly a commuter.

Perhaps someone who actually is insuring this car should comment.

Ok wow. Not bad then, are you financing the entire amount ? I know that even though its comprehensive it does make a difference.

No financing on it now, i'm actually overdue to give them a poke to see if they won't sharpen the pencil some.

I have a BMW. Thread somewhere here that was purchased somewhat recently north of 600k. My insurance is not R6k and and not even close to R2k.

I've had 2 accidents in the last 6 years as well.

I've also worked in the insurance industry and while you have some good points, very rarely does anyone ever pay over R4k unless as mentioned they drive over everything.

Perhaps all the sports car drivers I have ever spoken to were under 25 :p
