I don't think electric vehicles count as green when most of SA's power is generated by coal.

But we need electricity to charge them and that is in short supply...

Where are they gonna get the cars from??
Maybe China can spare a few?
Every other manufacturer is badly supply constrained... oh wait, VW! Nobody wants their useless id.3 - and Estonia's in Europe. I see their plan... (sarcasm - hopefully!)

"This announcement came four months after the company introduced electric-bike food delivery services in South Africa."

Are the batteries not stolen as soon as the delivery drivers park their bikes and disappear from view?

Not being sarcastic, genuinely interested.

One always have to consider the unique challenges of this continent before starting a venture.

They are greener than internal combustion as they don't continue to emit GHG while operating. Most of the world has a similar problem in how their power is generated.
