Maybe somebody can advise here.

On the 13th September, I purchased 2 tickets via Qantas website from Joburg to Brisbane to go see family in April/May 2016 for 2 weeks. An authorization amount was put onto my credit card and I received a e-ticket a little later from Qantas confirming the booking. I then chose my seats for the flights for an additional fee, and this amount came off my credit card immediately. HAPPY DAYS!!!

Today I decide to check my credit card and I see the authorization amount was been removed, but the amount for the tickets also hasn't been deducted. I phone the bank and explain, and they say that the merchant had 10 days to follow up and complete the transaction otherwise the authorization falls away, but the bank says there is no transaction for the tickets.

I then phone Qantas and I explain the situation that I have tickets which I haven't paid for. The lady sounds confused and puts me on hold for a while. She comes back and says there is no problem and the fact I have a confirmed e-ticket means that Qantas has received payment. She basically tells me I must be mistaken and says I should phone the bank and give them a transaction code as it must be an issue on the banks side?

What should I do, just leave it?

Reminds me about my situation I had a couple weeks ago with Takealot. I ordered 2 sets of AA lithium batteries with a R50 off code then I received 1 pack of lithium ion batteries and one pack of D batteries, so I sent the D batteries back to them , only to get another set of D batteries, complained again, then they phoned saying that they going start a new order of 2 packs of lithium ion batteries. Tried to explain to the lady that i already had one set of lithium ion batteries but she seemed confused, long story short now I have 3 sets of AA lithium batteries and one set of D batteries.

You tried to correct the situation. These kind of things are never covered in training and generally it will get so caught up in processes and procedures if they do come to collect you'll be 98. In short - enjoy the gifts the good lord has bestowed upon you.

Mail them. Put it in writing and get a response in writing. Then check the flight details with the eTicket code regularly. Just now your ticket details disappear from their system like the transaction from your credit card.

I had this in Macy's in New York. I could see the cashier didn't know what he was doing and although I received a c/card voucher, it was never debited to my account. Only about $110 or so. I didn't follow it up and it was in 2011

Just enjoy your free gift. Instead pay for the upgrade to business class with the money you would have paid for.

If the airline has received payment it had to come from somewhere.

It will be on your next bill and this period was missed.

Its risky as you don't want to come next year and they say sorry your ticket was cancelled due to non payment.

I would just wait for them to correct their error as they will at some stage and then they will come looking for their money.

I'll wait until my next credit card statement comes through. If it doesn't reflect, I will send an email asking to confirm payment and the ticket.

Yup just wait until their auditors have done their thing.

Happened to us with the Dr's rooms, except we were owed the money.... Went to the Dr, the dr claimed from the medical aid and we paid the Dr. A year and a half later Dr's auditors phone us asking for banking details. At first we thought it was a scam so we were hesitant, then found out what happened. They paid us back.

To cover myself (and give myself piece of mind), I would request written/e-mailed confirmation that Qantas received the payment and that the tickets are in fact booked - I would not go into the detail of the payment issue, etc.
As suggested above, check the e-ticket detail via their website every few weeks.
