Cleansing of the gene-pool. I mean come on, a 15 year old who don't know that this can cause your or somebody else's death, how bloody stupid or ignorant must you be?! I have no sympathy for this father, who's gun it was, nor for the idiot child that took the weapon to school.

Guns don't kill people, stupid people with guns kill people.

Kids shouldn't even know where the keys to the safe are stored.
They shouldn't even know where the safe is.
You should teach kids from a very early age that guns can hurt you.
And that it's not a toy
Im sad that a life was lost due to a lack of education and common sense but at least the gene pool was cleansed.

I think that one who issued license and gun to such irresponsible person should be held accountable.

I do have sympathy for the father and the poor kids who had witnessed this event. He obviously thought he would be hardcore and bring the gun to school and show off to his mates. Then real life kicks in-GUNS KILL(esp in the wrong hands). What an absolute shame and what a wast of a life :(

Father should be charged with murder, the boy who grabbed the gun should be charged with manslaughter. Mother should be charged with negligence. Any other kids in the family should be transferred to Foster Care. Person who approved license to father should be held accountable. This is inexcusable.

Do you blame the tool or the handyman if a job is not done right?

Well, true, but not for the reasons you think :)

I will leave a loaded gun lying in the middle of the dining room floor and I promise you, neither of the kids are going to shoot nothing.

Because they know how the thing works, they know it makes a loud noise and a small but expensive hole, and they know they just hafta ask and I'll drag them to the range with as much ammo as they want.

And they *know* that it's loaded.

Curiosity kills more than the cat, and whether it's AIDS, alcohol or guns, education is the answer.

It's not the father's fault. It's not the gun's fault. It's not the CFR Licencing dept's fault. It's not the shooter's fault.
It IS the kid's fault.
He was old enough to know what he was doing was stupid, illegal and dangerous. He knew what guns do, and that they are illegal in school. He knew that stealing it could have serious consequences. And yet he still did it. Knowing full well that he wouldbe seen as a threat and a criminal.
He took it to school and more than likely was doing more than just bragging with it.
So now his life is over, and his parent's are destroyed in more way than one.
Knave...you must really have some issues to think that an inanimate object has any power beyond what you give it. Are you just as disgusted at all the kids driving illegally and are you tearing your clothes in distress over the thousands that drive drunk every weekend? Ever done that yourself? I bet you have...most ppl have at some point.
He was 15. He knew what guns do..and the consequences.
Pity he doesn't get to live with that fact. It's tragic...but no-one to blame except himself.
His father was negligent, but we should have kids that know better than to steal a gun and take it to school. Lockng them up isn't required in many countries. In fact, in the USA you can throw a gun away in the trash if you like. But kids should be taught, and raised better. And at 15, he knew better.

I am sorrry to say I do agree with Glock. Too many kids go around thinking that they are invincible and have no idea that there are consequences to their actions. Its a tragic story, but if somebody learns something out of it then at least it would not have happened in vain. I do feel sorry for the parents, but there is also a negligence issue here IMHO.

Parents underestimate their children. From very young I new where everything was, even the Playboy my parents smuggled in from Europe when things like that were banned. Guns, bullets, safe, ... the lot. At 15 I had enough sense not to play with loaded guns. In any case there would never have been an accident if I had shown it off. We were given pellet guns from the age of 8 and shown how to use them properly (professionally is probably a better description). That's far better than being secretive with guns and forbidding children from touching them. That only leads to curiosity.
