If all the "abusers" leave MWEB they would have an optimized network again for the many that use it within reason. Please just don't switch to Afrihost, we like our service working at optimum levels :)

Once the 3% "abusers" have left they will target the next 3% on the list... just to be able to "free the web"!!

Websites are getting bigger, people are using youtube more and buying more wifi enabled devices in the house.
The excuse of the top abusers impacting the bottom doesn't stand as the bottom usage is rising all the time.

What is your definition of abuse? In case you haven't been paying attention, this email was sent out to most clients using over 100GB a month - not just those 'trying to download the internet'. You will be amazed just how much data streaming services use (in the evening no less, and strictly SD).

My wife and I are on a 10mb line at home. We do watch many streaming servers and have a XBMC media player which compliments our satellite service. I do game a lot, and my wife is a facebook and instagraming machine. We use about 100 GB a month. I dont even have file sharing software on my computer.

I use the 10mb IS uncapped service and its still at 5 stars (unshaped) after 100GB.

100GB is abuse on MWEB premium? on 10mb?

Mweb didn't free the web in SA. They stuffed it up.

Probably one of the most evil companies in SA.

I left Mweb a few months ago after receiving the dreaded letter or "threat" as I like to call it. After asking why I have to manage myself when they have, or should have their own shaping in place to manage excessive usage by individuals (which is what they will now be doing anyway with this so called 3%) surprisingly I got no answer, so I left thinking would I ever find another ISP with a "world class network", let me tell you, any ISP which is not MWEB has a world class network, they must not be based on earth if that is the case.

If you want to know where Mweb is going in the future, look no further then DSTV.
