The paying minority will do some calculations and install solar
All calculations up to this point have been completely wrong. There are new stealth taxes as well as it worked on a 15% annual increase not 32%. Lets also 1st see the new tariffs for solar houses.

Realistically, I do not think we will see a big electricity price hike, as the headline of this article implies. I think Eskom will get the usual increase it gets each year - the increase will be in line with inflation (I see anything between a 7% to 11% hike).

Sadly, the increase will lead to good and services getting pricier, and such increases hurt poor and struggling people more than it hurts wealthy people. Also, salary increases generally are not great (anything under 10%), so most salaried folk will feel the pinch.

I wonder if Eskom will ever return to its glorious days. Seems like Eskom is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode. The leadership has seen so many changes with very little improvements.

The CEO has issued a statement of electricity is too cheap so it gets wasted, it won't get wasted while more expensive, while also saying this figure is not thumb sucked, it's also weird that while there were "rampant corruption" electricity prices were stable in accordance with CPI, in the past 4 years of Cyril, and Pravin, De Ryter, electricity has gotten more expensive, corruption will still be rampant, while I would still pay higher income tax, rates, will pay vat, and we will now cover the eskom shortfall with the 32%, we need the private power suppliers to be on their own, and be in competition with eskom, if you bring a retail CEO into a SOE he is always going to think about taking more money from the consumer, they are all mad, attention is now being focused on pitbulls, while you have something else going on that is more important.

Says the **** earning 7-8 million... how about this, we do a income based tariff, so you can fork out 200k for your usage a month and get feel better about yourself and bob who earns 3k a month can pay 100... fair?
It's because they live on another planet.

I agree with him. No one looks for sustainable solutions to manage electricity usage.
Every house has a stove, geyser etc etc.
We can start planning with the future in mind.
Rather than having a stove feed a family, find a system that feeds a million people.
People don't innovate if it's not necessary.
If electricity was expensive enough, we would find solutions to manage power consumption.
Out population size is increasing. We need to adopt mass processes to get to the future.

Constantly increasing the price of electricity as has been done for years now only hurts the poor. You think he gives a **** if his bill is 2k 5k or 10k? No, he earns 600k a month, its nothing for folks like him. You really think he turns off his underfloor heating, geysers, aircons, pool pumps etc to save electricity cos its gone up 30% again, fark no, its irrelevant to folks him. Upper middle who feel it and can afford to change to solar etc do so, farkers like him don't give a **** cos its not even 1 percent of his monthly income, and the poor, they are all ****ed, resulting in more theft and damage, more poverty and even less jobs

They'll do what they want because all we ever do (myself included) is moan to the choir on the internet.
I know........but anyways, if you are off the grid, then that's what they can do.

It hurts the middle class more than the poor since the poor don`t pay.

Nope, you agree with him that electricity is too cheap. I pointed out why he is wrong. It is not cheap enough. The only way to grow economy resulting in jobs which results in reduce poverty is through cheap electricity. Its attracts investment and the rest flows in line. His comment shows he is wrong for eskom, doesn't matter what else he has done there, this thinking will be destructive to an already ****ed economy, and I'm surprised no one in gov has stood up and called him out for it. Eskom job is to provide cheap reliable electricity, not make it as expensive as possible so people are forced in to further poverty and unemployment

Or how about this - people can stop popping out 20,000 babies and then complaining they have no money. Duh.
