So I bought a new D7000 body yesterday to replace my D3000, but I'm having some issues with my lenses.

I have the following:
Nikon 18-55 VR kit lens - Works fine
Nikon 35 f1.8 - Works fine
Sigma 18-250 f3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM - Worked once
Nikon AF 70-300 G - Worked once
Nikon AF 28-80 G - Didn't work, stopped testing

I believe all the lenses should work, but Sigma and the Type G lenses just shows a F-- error on the LCD.
This morning, out of desperation, I mounted the 70-300 again and it worked perfectly. Mounted the Sigma, doesn't work, mounted the 70-300, doesn't work anymore. Last night the Sigma worked briefly. Starting to think there's something wrong with my D7000's mounting mechanism or CPU contacts.

Any advice ?

I'm probably gonna take it to a shop today - seriously disappointed. It's an awesome camera, but I need something that's going to be reliable

Mier i have read something similar on another forum, I might also be wrong. but on the other site said it might be an issue with the firmware on the lens's and they recommend to take the lens back to the shop and ask them to check.

Thanks. I bought the Sigma in Dubai last year and it works perfectly on the D3000. The two TypeG lenses are a few years old (got them with my film camera), but nevertheless I'll take it all to a shop to have it checked out.

Took the camera and lenses to an authorised dealer. All my lenses work fine on their D7000, but mines still having issues. So I took the stuff to Nikon themselves. A technician took a look at it and brought it back 'working', I swapped a few lenses and the problem came back. Booked in the body and 'faulty' lenses in with Nikon - let's see.

If it works fine with their D7000, have yours exchanged.

The techie said he needs to check whether the contacts on the body need alignment. This seems a small enough correction, if that solves it. I'll ask for an exchange if I'm not 100% satisfied.
It does spoil the fun a bit if you have these sort of issues when you upgrade.

For the money you're outlaying on something like that, I'd be worried that inital faults could lead to worse down the road.

If you only bought it yesterday, I would suggest you demand a refund/replacement. That body is clearly faulty.

Went to Nikon this morning and was told the technicians hasn't even looked at it yet.
I told them that I'm not interested in a 'repaired' camera and I insisted that they exchange it. - They said I can pick up a new camera in the next hour.

I wish I had that luck. I bought my 7D a month or so after the Sendai Earthquake, and since Canon halted production, by the time I found that mine was definitely faulty, no one had stock so I *couldn't* get an exchange. :(

Got the new cam and everything is working sweetly. HUGE step up from my D3000, which I'm passing on to my mother(65) - She has developed an interest in casual wildlife photography and realised her sony compact won't cut it.

Just relieved that I didn't get stuck with a dud.
