Well they are right the pitch at ellis park is not fit for proper football. The pitches at bloem, pretoria and rustenburg have been better by a long way. Hopefully this gets fixed before 2010.

All the pitches will be perfect for the world cup, get nice fresh pitches and no rugby matches on them either.

The pitch to me looked fine, i have seen far worse pitches than that one. A few places had no grass but it did not look all that bad to me.

The pitch did look rather worn. Bald patches on several places and the grass very loose in others. Then again, it is a rugby pitch.

The South African team were at home, off course. Many of them learned to play soccer on dirt/dust piches or even asphalt in the street!

That's what home advantage is all about:D.

Well brazil do not exactly have the greatest pitches either and remember there are loads of poor people playing on the beach and crappy pitches.

The brazil players said the Uruguayan pitch they played on recently was worse.

Pitch issue won't be a problem for 2010.

What I don't understand is why they don't use the contingency pitch they have for Confed venues!

They didn't even complain much, just stated that the pitch was terrible. Which it clearly was! What's more the conditions will suit USA. I believe the Spanish were unhappy both times they played on the Bloemfontein pitch, but this one was far worse.

And you can't blame the fact that rugby was played on it, Loftus had a much better pitch!

Ha ha ha absolutely love the signature! :)

On topic, I am of the view that both teams play on the same pitch. A professional team should be able to adapt to the conditions. The ball may on occasion not have bounced true but that would happen if you had torrential rain during a game too. Adapt or die... but stop whinging Brazil! In saying that the pitch was not that bad... I have seen a LOT worse.

Think injuries are more of a concern than anything else
