An interesting stat would have been to know how many inmates were granted medical parole in the past year, how many was denied, and how many of the denied inmates died in prison. That would have given us an indication on how "fair" his granting of medical parole was.

In all my years inside I knew of 1 inmate that got medical parole, and he died in the ambulance on his way home. Know of many inmates that died in prison though, medical parole was not easily granted, and that was before they amended the Act to make it harder to get medical parole.

Current data is a bit scares but this from a 2012 article,
In the past five years, 231 applications were made for medical parole.Of those, 127 were approved.
A journal study says (2012),
The fact that 60 percent of prisoners released on medical parole did not die after placement on parole also highlighted the need to review the law.
Other journal (2009),

They just needed to add No. of prisoners died as well, it would have made the stat more complete. The amount of released prisoners or even the amount that applied does not give a true reflection on how many terminally ill prisoners there are, and that is due to the useless DCS officials working at prisons. If you are not on good grounds with the hospital staff, you can forget that they will even fill in any forms that is required for the parole process to start, it is just too much work. Let us rather sit and drink coffee / tea the whole day instead of working. Let me not even go on about that, not that we should really care about the prisoners, that part I get, but we are paying tax, and the people are getting paid to deliver a service, which they do not deliver, suppose just like any other state institution.
