So instead of having an inflated workforce of 40 000+ people on extremely high salaries not doing their jobs, now we will habe double that?

What could go wrong
There are already not enough competent people within Eskom who actually know what they are doing, a second state power utility will no doubt keep the same discriminatory hiring practices which means you'll now have two power utilities further diluting the limited talent pool between them. Should end well.

So, what will happen here?

Old Eskom will still be billing us in full. New Eskom will also send a second bill, or perhaps combine the two bills, but at a lower rate. Electricity will increase by at least 80% then.

What ever keeps the gravy train rolling.

ANC knows the writing is on the wall for them. They know everyone with functioning brain cells have seen through their bullshit. So this is a last ditch looting attempt by them. It's so ****ing obvious it's like embarrassing. Yirre, what absolutely useless oxygen thieves this ANC is.

I can only imagine this would be more of a disaster than Eskom.

If the intent is to be better than Escum, anyone with a half decent inverter and lithium battery is in the running at the moment.

BREAKING NEWS LIVE | ANC considers second state-owned power utility to compete with Eskom - Ramaphosa

ANC considers second state-owned power utility to challenge Eskom 'monopoly' - Ramaphosa

President Cyril Ramaphosa on Friday announced that the ANC is strongly considering the establishment of a second state-owned power utility to reduce the risk posed by Eskom's failings.

Ramaphosa, who gave the ANC's message of support on the third day of the SACP's elective congress, said the proposal was initially made by Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Gwede Mantashe after the power utility plunged the country into stage six load shedding.

"Eskom has been operating as a monopoly for over 100 years and having one company taking up the role of providing energy to the entire country poses a great risk. If it [Eskom] fails, its failure becomes a peculiar failure for the entire country," he said.

Ramaphosa said Mantashe's proposal was a great idea. "Look at China. It has a number of state-owned power providers who compete among themselves ensuring that the price of electricity is greatly reduced."

Ahh so each Eskom can run at half the load shedding stage. So instead of stage 4, you will only have stage 2, but from each of your Eskoms. Thus there will be ”less” loadshedding! This is brilliant.

He [Ramaphosa] added that he agreed with energy minister Gwede Mantashe’s idea that a second state-owned power utility could solve the issue.

“That is why when comrade Gwede [Mantashe] flighted the idea of ‘why not a second one which can be owned by the government?’, I said that’s not a bad idea.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.
