For your information, the following base stations are being installed. The first three could be live as early as today, and the others will follow in the next week or two.

The base stations are:
Roodekrans (West Rand)
Strand (Cape Town)
Menlo/CSIR (Pretoria)
Benoni (East Rand)
Eden Mall (East Rand)
Illovo/Hyde Park (Sandton)
Morningside (Sandton)
Proton/Florida (West Rand)

Could the above be the reason for the crappy speeds and continuous disconnections the last few days (especially today)?

FYI: Roodekrans is NOT LIVE!!! I would have seen a change if it was! My modem still has to be stuck in the curtain rail to pick up Roodepoort!

Apparently in the next 3 weeks all the towers will go live. If the last rollout is anything to go by that could be 6 weeks.

(Welcome back Kei)

I just think that because you are a penis you don't understand the better parts of iBurst. Such as speeds that exceed your sh1tty little ADSL connection. Don't be jealous now skuzzy. Jealousy makes you nasty ;) . Penis

I'm wondering if the Hyde Park/Illovo station will be on the Hyde Park Shopping Centre, or the Illovo water tower. I hope it's the latter.

There seems to be an antenna array already on the Hyde Park Shopping Centre, but I've got a feeling that it belongs to Sentech.

My experience has been the opposite. The last few weeks have been very good. But maybe its because I'm on much higher ground with Line-of-sight to the Randburg BS.

Roodekrans is active (as per their status page) ... but just like with Linden I think it will be a while before we have a clear picture on it's impact.

Kei, you seeing it?

Hi All

Roodekrans tower became live today... I am getting very strong signal here, so strong in fact that I have 5 LED's with no antenna whatsoever. Putting UTD in a metal box doesn't even drop signal. Selling my patch antenna. Anyone want it... paid R500 for it, used it twice... asking R150-00

Having problems.... which seem OK now. Around 18h30 I could only send and receive mail.... websites refused to load. Seems fine now.

Speed test is nothing spectacular: 713kbits/sec receive at 82kbits/sec transmit.

p2p is shaped out of existence. Torrents have been dead since Sunday. Open proxy anyone???
