Well they don't want to work.

The Car Wash and the Engen+Woolworths garage down the road were absolutely booming a year ago (and have been for more than 10 years). Literally a golden goose of the thousands stopping there each month in the mornings and afternoons as well as all the people living in the complexes right next door pouring in due to convenience.
You couldn't wish for a better location.

So then a lady buys over the place. Let's call her Mrs. Black.
A few months later, the garage is in liquidation and the car wash looks as expected: Trash everywhere, "car washers" hanging around staring into the abyss while trash blows all over and around them, no vacuum cleaner, no pressure pump, nothing but pure and utter laziness and disinterest. Disgusting.
I paid the guy 30 bucks for a "quick wash", mostly out of pity...

If didn't want nothing to do with this country anymore I'd consider buying the place and running it myself. But frankly, f**k it. I'm over this place. I want zero assets here.

(My sister and her husband ran only a Car Wash in a small town up until recently and she made more money than I, the "educated one" do. There's no excuse.)

I am just waiting for everyone to tell their story, then I am going to come with the Mother of all stories, just putting a few finishing touches to it, it's going to be legendary.

Damn. Now I could kick myself for not taking pics on my last trip from JHB to Potch. Wild west wasteland would be an understatement but as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

So many people I know have this exact mindset (including me). It's the real damage to this place. Until a few years ago I had so much love for SA, and so much hope. Literally I want zero to do with this **** hole these days. Definitely not buying property anymore, and realised that there will never be hope for this place. I a few years all of my business will be tied up here, sold and off to a better place. It's reading stories like yours that confirms it.

Please include krugersdorp poors - just to balance it out a bit.

Statistics is a form of colonialist un-inclusive mathematics?

I guess the two goes hand in hand.
Those outstretched hands cupped upwards?

Only reason why employment went down, during the last 10 or so years, was because so many people were employed at SOE's and other government institutions, in unnecessary positions, created solely for job creation.

Promise to follow that up with the Father of all stories and my eyes are all yours...
