It is all a matter of taste but Sue Stone might have Britain's sweetest job – getting paid to travel the world, testing chocolate.

For 27 years, Mrs Stone has eaten up to 20 varieties of chocolate a day for confectionery giant Thorntons.

As the company's product group development manager Sue looks all over the globe to discover new tastes and concepts to inspire new ranges of chocolates.

The 53-year-old, from South Wingfield, Derbyshire, said: ‘When people ask me what I do for a living, their faces are priceless.

‘There’s a running joke that anyone who starts here gains half a stone in the first month,’ she adds. ‘I really do have the world’s best job.’

Despite sometimes consuming thousands of calories a day tasting different products, Sue works it off quickly in her busy role at the company.

'Although I do eat a lot of chocolate, I also have to move around a lot - I walk miles around the factory every day' she revealed.

'One minute I'm on the production line watching a product I have developed being made, then I'm in the kitchens working with our master chocolatiers.

'At busy times of year, we all go out into stores to help out -and carrying the extra stock up and down stairs is a great workout!'

Sue started on the Thornton production line in the 1980s before she worked her way up the company to eventually land her dream job.
